Joining Google Cloud
Stepping into the tech titan, Google, is a dream for many. And for me, that dream became a reality in February of 2019. But the road wasn't without its twists and turns; it was marked by resilience, growth, and endurance.
My story with Google began long before my first day at the company. In 2016, I had my first encounter with Google's interview process. Full of excitement and anticipation, I dove headfirst into the challenging rounds, only to face disappointment when I didn't receive an offer. It was a setback, but I refused to let it define me. Instead, I saw it as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Over the next few years, I honed my skills, gained valuable experience, and continued to pursue my passion for technology. Then, in 2019, I decided to give it another shot. The process was rigorous, demanding, and at times, nerve-wracking. But I persevered, drawing on the lessons I had learned from my previous experience. And when the long-awaited offer finally arrived, it felt like the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
But joining Google wasn't just a career milestone for me; it was also a significant personal journey. Moving from the bustling streets of Los Angeles to the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, added an extra layer of excitement and adventure to the experience. It was a leap of faith, a chance to embrace change and step out of my comfort zone.
My first day at Google was a whirlwind of introductions, orientation sessions, and team meetings. Throughout the day, I was also introduced to the company's rich history and core values, which served as the guiding principles for everything we did. From "Focus on the user and all else will follow" to "Great just isn't good enough," these mantras underscored Google's relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation.
But perhaps the most profound moment of my first day came when I sat down at my desk and reflected on the journey that had brought me here. From working at other jobs, which required commuting 2+ hours each way… then initial disappointment of rejection…. to the exhilarating thrill of acceptance, it had been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. And yet, through it all, I had emerged stronger, wiser, and more determined than ever.
My first day at Google was more than just the beginning of a new job; it was the start of a new chapter in my life—a chapter filled with growth, learning, and endless possibilities. And as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I knew that this was only the beginning of an incredible journey.
